RISE 5280’s mission is to provide equitable opportunities to close educational attainment gaps and promote fiscal and social mobility for Black and Brown youth. The program empowers underrepresented high-school-aged youth through a cultural lens to develop healthy social-emotional skills and career planning.
Our services include mentoring, academic support, community service, and exposure to opportunities beyond their neighborhood boundaries to improve the professional and social trajectory of minority leaders.
Our work started in 2016, taking a small group of youth to tour HBCU schools around the country. We learned the dire need for youth of color to gain exposure to college and support navigating their post-secondary planning and development. We grew to serve over 100 youth per year on HBCU tours, mentoring, and tutoring.
